Leesa A. Israel
BA, CPC, CUC, CMBS
Leesa specializes in medical coding and reimbursement for urology and general surgery, as well as billing and collections policies and strategies for physician practices. Leesa is currently an executive editor in charge of editing and quality control of several coding and billing publications. She has written Urology Coding Alert for six years, as well as several other coding publications specialties such as neurosurgery, pulmonology, allergy, and ophthalmology. Leesa has also covered Medicare and private payer regulations, healthcare human resources, and Joint Commission policy. While researching and writing more than 1,700 pages of coding and billing information over the years, Leesa has consulted, and continues to consult, with clinical, coding, and billing experts throughout the U.S. She also presents on coding and billing issues at national events. Through AAPC, she is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) and a Certified Urology Coder™ (CUC™). Leesa is a member of the Medical Association of Billers (MAB) and is a Certified Medical Billing Specialist® (CMBS®). Leesa has a bachelor’s degree in communication/journalism from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. A real go getter, she has double-minors in english and economics.
