Check Out 2018 ICD-10-CM Updates, Now Available on SuperCoder!
2017-06-28

Starting your 2018 ICD-10-CM update preparations today is as easy as logging in to your SuperCoder account. Get to know the updates, effective Oct. 1, 2017, in three easy ways:

  • By specialty: On the Coding Tools page left-side menu, open Coding/ICD-10-CM. Then click 2018 Code Changes. You’ll open a new page with code changes listed by specialty.
  • By change type: Another option from the left-side Coding Tools/Coding menu is to click Upcoming Changes/ICD-10-CM. You’ll be able to view new, revised, and deleted codes, as well as codes that will be converted to a parent code. For instance, A04.7 (Enterocolitis due to Clostridium difficile) will convert to a parent code (instead of a reportable code) when new options A04.71 (Enterocolitis due to Clostridium difficile, recurrent) and A04.72 (Enterocolitis due to Clostridium difficile, not specified as recurrent) go live.

By code: Check the Upcoming and Historical Information box on a code details page to see whether a change is coming for the code in the 2018 code set. For example, the code details page for F41.0 (Panic disorder [episodic paroxysmal anxiety] without agoraphobia) lets you know the code descriptor will be revised. When you check the revised code list, you’ll see the new descriptor will remove “without agoraphobia.”

Prep with ICD-10-CM free code lookup: If you don’t have a SuperCoder subscription that includes access to the 2018 diagnosis code list, you can sign up for a free year of ICD-10-CM code lookup and start reviewing the ICD-10 updates right away!
