x-ray images vs views

Kelly Posted Sat 20th of June, 2015 17:35:43 PM

Can the word "images" and "views" be interchangable. My client says that if the report documents 3 images that is considered 3 views. I was taught to code by views. Is there a radiology coding alert that covers this

X-ray views should not be confuse with X-ray views. CPT codes cover X-ray views not the image. If 2 X-ray images of shoulder joint taken, both in AP views, than it should be counted as 1 X-ray procedure and billed as CPT code 73020 X1 unit.
