wound repair

Nancy Posted Thu 11th of June, 2015 18:19:49 PM

Revision of his midline wound. This gentleman has a history of diverticulitis complicated by infection with a midline wound that was depressed and separated. This was repaired on closure. Would CPT code 12020 be correct?

If the closure was of single layer then 12020 is accuarete code, but if it is intermediate repair then code from the CPT series 12031-12037 according to the size of the repaired part and if it perforemed as complex repair then code CPT 13160.
