Wound Cellulitis

Tammy Posted Thu 17th of December, 2015 12:58:18 PM

Patient had c/s on 11/11 and then come in on 12/11 for wound infection and prescribed antibiotic and we billed a 99213. Patient came back on 12/16 and checked incision again as patient thought she has more oozing and no antibiotic prescribe. Can I bill for another 99213 for the 12/16 visit or would it be a post-op?

Thanks for question,

We will not consider this is an followup visit. You will bill this with E&M service code because here the patient comes with complaint and physician did her exam again. Make sure use modifier -25 with E&M service code.
