What is the correct way to bill out fecal tests, shots, wet mounts, ultra-sounds

Christina Posted Mon 15th of April, 2019 12:52:20 PM
We have a CLIA cert. We need to know the correct way to bill out office visits, with a fecal test, or shot, or wet mount, or ultra sounds. What is the correct modifier to attach to the office visit?

Thank you for your Question.

Office visits CPT codes are billable with fecal test, or shot, or wet mount, or ultra sounds without any modifier as CCI doesn't show any bundling edit to append any modifier. Some payers require Modifier 25 to be appended with office visit CPT code.  As you are CLIA cert some payers also require Modifier QW to be appended with the lab codes.

Please check with your payer for specific payer requirements to avoid denials.

Hope this Helps!
