Need dx code for cpt # 80502 pain management

This is a pathological consultations service which has wide range of applications i.e; the medical necessity for this CPT has a wider range. So, it is always a better option to code ICD from the following:

1. The Primary Dx from the Pathological Consultation Report.
2. The Primary Dx from the findings in the follow-up Pathological services performed.
3. The Reason for Visit.

Basically, since these are paim management consultation codes, if no other dx available, the management of the pain of the anatomical area is the diagnosis to be billed.
