What codes can be used for dynamic low study, when performing TCD study?

Peter Posted Fri 31st of August, 2012 18:21:33 PM

Is there a billable code for a dynamic low study when performing a TCD study?
There was at one time however I understand it is not billable now. The physician does this to check the blood flow, example when a patient turns their
head from side to side,to see if the blood flow is cut off when turning their head. What code can we bill for this study?

Hi, Heather, and thanks for the question. Before I give you a firm answer, I'd like to clarify a couple of things.

First, did you mean "dynamic flow" study instead of "dynamic low" study?

Second, it looks like you're asking whether the dynamic study can be performed during the same session as the TCD study and be separately billable. Is that right? What codes were you reporting previously?

Thanks, and we'll get back with you soon.
