Well & Sick Visit examples

Tina Posted Wed 29th of July, 2015 10:40:18 AM

With all the well visits right now the question comes up with the physicians again about billing a sick visit with a well visit. Can we get some examples of when it is and when it isn't acceptable.

Example: well visit with ADHD recheck - is it appropriate every time regardless with or without change to meds?

Patient with illness that requires referral to specialist- no other labs, RX etc discussion regarding

Patient with chronic illnesses

Well, yes, wellness visit and sick visit can be billed together. Annual wellness visit and E/M can go simultaneously accordingly. For example- patient have annual visit for ADHD, physician consulting the patient for ADHD and simultaneously patient complaining some other disease/injury (which is not related to ADHD), so for that- same or other physician can consult. In this scenario both visits (Wellness and E/M visits) can be billed together regardless of diagnostic tests. Hope it helps!
