Is it necessary to put the weeks of gestation on the Zcodes? example z34.03

Yes it is necessary to put the weeks of gestation for Z codes, as it provides detailed information. For eg. for code Z34.03 one can code Z3A.28.

ok on ACOG it states: ICD-10-CM also provides the ability to report the specific gestational week of pregnancy with codes from category Z3A. Gestational week codes would be reported in addition to codes for complications of pregnancy.

So from reading this it would be only with complications of pregnancy.

The statement which you have cited states that Z3A needs to be coded with complications of pregnancy but as per the official guidelines, additional codes needs to be used with pregnancy in order to specify the weeks of gestation. Please refer official ICD-10 guidelines.
