weeks gestation cose for missed ab?

Susan Posted Fri 01st of April, 2016 14:30:39 PM

When coding ultrasound for a missed ab do I use the weeks from LMP or size measured by ultrasound.

A missed abortion is a situation when there is a non-viable fetus within the uterus, without symptoms of a miscarriage. A CRL of ≥7 mm without a heart beat on a endovaginal ultrasound confirms the diagnosis. Rather then LMP, duration of the pregnancy measured by ultrasound is preferred. CPT code 76817 is used for transvaginal ultrasound.
