Ventriculostomy with Intracranial Pressure Monitor

Nicole Posted Thu 21st of July, 2016 11:35:11 AM
The area was incised with # 11 blade. A small trephination was created. The Dura was opened. A ventriculostomy catheter was passed into the right lateral ventricle. The catheter was attached to a Becker drainage system. Diagnosis: Obstructive Hydrocephalus secondary to cerebellar arteriovenous malformation. The doctor wants to use CPT 61107, but the description of "twist drill holes" makes me think this code is incorrect. Any suggestions, would be appreciated.

Hi, CPT code 61107 is appropriate for the procedure. Trephination justifies 'burr hole' creation in CPT code 61107. Hope this helps!
