Vascular Surgery Help

Teresa Posted Tue 06th of July, 2010 21:33:49 PM

Would you please help me code the following surgery?

Patient had PVD, Rest Pain, Occluded Common Femoral Arteries of the right and left legs. Patient had a 1.) Aortofemoral Bypass Graft 2.) Bilateral Common Femoral Endarterectomies and Profundoplasties. I was looking at codes 35647, 35371-59-RT, 35371-59-LT. Do you think these can be billed together? Thank you for your help.

Code 35647 is okay if the graft is not obtained from a vein. But for the second procedure I would suggest 35372-50 (or LT & RT) as profundoplasties have been done. I don't know why you use mod-59 here. There are no CCI edits. Mod 51 should be more appropriate.
