V85.30 not accepted as a primary diagnosis

William Ivan Posted Mon 14th of July, 2014 14:53:01 PM

We have a denied claim from UHC. The denial reason the provided me with is V85.30 is not accepted as a primary diagnosis. What diagnosis code is advised to use with CPT G0447 to have the claim accepted and processed?

You may appeal the denial. As per the CMS guidelines, G0447 must be billed along with 1 of the ICD-9 codes for BMI 30.0 and over (V85.30-V85.39, V85.41-V85.45). No other diagnoses code is required.

Thanks !!
