if we have negative result in org after UTI culture can we consider ABR billing even for negative report
SuperCoder Answered Tue 11th of February, 2020 02:40:53 AM

Hello Apurva,

Thank you for your question.

Negative result means that the specific virus or specific antibody tested for was not detected, therefore, if the result in org after UTI culture was negative, the service is still reportable.

Note: Do check with your respective payer for any pathological/laboratory test(s) negative result outcome reimbursement guidelines.

Hope that helps!

Thanks

if the UTI report is negative can an Antibiotic resistance test ( ABR ) be ordered and performed and billed. Kindly confirm

Hello Apurva,

Thank you for your additional query.

Antibiotic resistance applies only to bacteria becoming resistant to antibiotics. Now, since the UTI culture report was negative and there was no organism detected, the ABR testing shall not be performed, as it is performed on an organism.

Hope that helps!

Thanks
