Urology/Turp

Cherie Posted Fri 11th of September, 2015 13:10:00 PM

My Dr. has in his note, After getting the clots out of the bladder we then actually resected some of the necrotic fibrous-looking prostate tissue and fulgurated it to get hemostasis. Would this qualify as a "Turp". Please advise.
Thank You

If patient has enlarged prostate or has prostate related condition or disease, than yu canuse CPT code 52601 (TURP), but CPT code 52601 include complete resection of prostate, which was not done in your case, than you should append modifier -52 with CPT code 52601. Bill it as 52601-52.
