Urology/Fistula track

Cherie Posted Thu 24th of September, 2015 13:49:34 PM

The Dr. did an excision of fissure track and indurated tissue that goes from the bottom of the scrotum down lateral on his left side of the anus. He made an elliptical excision and then used Bovie cautery to excise all indurated tissue. I am not sure what code to use. 54700, 10061, 20005. If you could help I would appreciate it. Thanks

Wll, this is not I&D as per documentation, so 54700, 10061 & 20005 will not be coded. Check your documentation properly, if anal track involvement is there then use CPT 46200. Otherwise unlisted code (CPT-53899) of urinary system has to be billed. Make sure to attach operative report with unlisted code to avoid cut in dollar value. Hope this helps!
