Urology/ lysis of vaginal scar

Cherie Posted Wed 20th of August, 2014 11:08:37 AM

I am not sure what to code the following: This is from a vaginal approach. "Attention was turned towards lysing the patient's vaginal scar. Using a needle tip Bovie, the lateral attachments of the scar to the pelvic sidewall were taken down on each side w/ vaginal relaxing incisions on each side. These were left open to heal, to minimize any recurrent scarring." Help! :)

Greetings for the day!

Thanks for your question. There is no specific CPT code for vaginal adhesiolysis. Correct code would be unlisted code 58999. Comparable code for unlisted would be 56441 (Lysis of labial adhesions).

Hope it answers your question.

Thank you!
