urological procedure code for a lipoma of the perineum/scrotum area its a mass.

please give me the appropriate Urological procedure codes that would best describe a resection of lipoma of the perinuem hemipelvic area into the scotum. this an open procedure. Would i use 27048 and 55150? they dont seem to be bundled but i want to make sure i am not missing any procedure codes.

Hi Julie,

Lipomas are usually coded using integumentary codes. For this you would choose a code from the 11420-11426 range. If a simple closure was not done you would also bill a code specific to the type of closure that was performed like 13132 for complex repair. As per NCCI guidelines 11420 bundles to 13132, however we will use modifier 59 with 11420 to ruleout bundling. Hope it helps.
