Urine Drug Confirmation Testing - New for our office

Gary Posted Wed 15th of July, 2015 11:16:33 AM

. Have all of the new codes been added to all of the insurance company databases. I checked and Medicare is only using the G codes as well as Tricare. Is BCBS accepting any of the new codes?

2. Does the drug confirmation code G6058 include specific drug tests and if so which ones? And, when I bill this code if the patient has more than 10 drugs tested are we allowed to bill any additional codes?

3. Is there a difference in the tests that can be done for a new patient vs an established patient?

4. Are there any modifiers used for the tests? And, if so which ones and for which Insurances?

5. Does any of the insurance companies require preauthorization?

Well, all the new codes have to be accepted by all the insurances. G6058 code covers drug confirmation in which an analyst confirms the result of an initial screening by using different methodology for any kind of drugs. When numerous drugs screening is done all are allow to bill without any difference of new or established category. Modifier are based on the combination of tests and pre authorization again depend on the specific insurance company. Hope it helps!
