Urinary diversion directly to the skin

Leah Posted Fri 24th of October, 2014 12:30:31 PM

Hello!
This surgery was not the ususal. The patient had a non-viable bladder and the bladder was not removed, however the ureters were seperated from the bladder and then a direct anastamosis to the skin rather than to the colon or intestine.

I could not find a CPT code to match this scenario. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Cindy

You should use code 50860, Ureterostomy, transplantation of ureter to skin.

Thanks !!
