Unsuccessful PTCA

Annmarie Posted Fri 25th of October, 2013 09:45:13 AM

this doesnt happen often, but while performing LHC on a patient whom it was deemed needed a stent placed in the RCA the stent could not be placed due to unforseen circumstances. Can the unsucessful PTCA attempt (92928)still be billed along with the LHC?

Yes. As long as you have the documentation showing the PTCA was attempted but then aborted and why, you can code 92928-52. the -52 modifier is for Reduced Services.
