UNICOMPARTMENTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY AND PATELLA RESURFACING

Charlene Posted Tue 17th of May, 2016 17:03:02 PM
I've read multiple posts from the past regarding this subject with differing expert answers. Some posts say 27446 may be billed with 27437/27438 by appending modifier 59 to the resurfacing code. While other expert answers say the two codes may only be billed when done in separate knees. What is the proper coding as of today and what basis is your answer?

These codes can be billed together by appending modifier 59, if done in different compartments of the same knee or the separate knees.
