Ultrsound vein mapping for surgical planning

Lynn Posted Thu 14th of January, 2016 17:36:51 PM

my doctor is creating a AVF's and also states that in the OR prior to skin prep, we performed Ultrasound vein mapping for surgical planning. He has been using code 76998 intraoperative U/S, and says that what he is doing is a new technique. Would this code be correct, or is there something else we should be billing instead? Thank you

Yes CPT code 76998 is correct. Also, there is one more HCPCS code G0365 – vessel mapping of vessels for haemodialysis for the preoperative examination of vessels prior to haemodialysis access site surgery in patients with end stage renal disease.
