TURP w/ Suprapubic Tube Insertion

Nicole Posted Tue 22nd of December, 2015 16:03:39 PM

Doc did a TURP procedure but also did Suprapubic tube insertion (using a Lowsley retractor placed into the urethra and extended up to the abdominal wall).

Would this be included in the TURP procedure code 52601 or is there a CPT code that can be billed for that as well?

Or would the CPT code 51102 (Aspiration of Bladder w/ insertion of Suprapubic Catheter) be able to be billed with the TURP procedure?

Appropriate codes for this scenario would be:
52601 Transurethral electrosurgical resection of prostate, including control of postoperative bleeding, complete (vasectomy, meatotomy, cystourethroscopy, urethral calibration and/or dilation, and internal urethrotomy are included)
51040-XU Cystostomy, cystotomy with drainage
