Transluminal coronary atherectomy by laser

Marita Posted Wed 15th of January, 2014 00:15:03 AM

Transluminal coronary atherectomy with stent placement was performed. Transluminal coronary atherectomy was done with a laser, which is rare. Is there a code to specify the laser?

Thanks,
Marita

You may use the usual code. The CPT Guidelines for 92920-92944 helpfully refer to laser atherectomy as a possible method: "These codes include angioplasty (eg, balloon, cutting balloon, wired balloons, cryoplasty), atherectomy (eg, directional, rotational, laser), and stenting (eg, balloon expandable, self-expanding, bare metal, drug eluting, covered)."
