TIPS PROCEDURE WITH THROMBECTOMY IN PORTAL VEIN

Deaconess Posted Tue 17th of April, 2018 10:18:07 AM
Good morning~ I don't think we can, but wanted to double check; our Rad performed TIPS procedure did a final venogram saw there was thrombosis in the left portal vein still so went back in and performed a suction thrombectomy. Are we allowed to charge 37182 and 37187 or will the thrombectomy be included in the TIPS since it is in the portal vein? Thank you in advance :)Also if you have information on this please send me a link. I will have to let my Rad know the reasoning of it.

Hi,

There is no CCI edit between codes 37182 and 37187. This means these two codes can be billed together if documentation justifies that both the procedures were performed.

Thanks.
