Tick Bite Diagnosis code

Bernadette Posted Mon 10th of November, 2014 13:01:08 PM

Hi,

We saw a pediatric patient who came in for a tck bite. The tick had been removed by the parent and the parent wanted the bite checked. There was some redness and the doctor advised parent to keep area clean, watch for signs or symptoms for next 30 days -- what is the correct diagnosis code for the tick bite?

Thanks!

You would bill a superficial injury code based on the area of the bite. Code range 910-919. You will codes that refer to the insect bite. You can add the E906.4.

Hope this helps.
