PATIENT HAD HYPEREXTENSION DEFORMITY - SURGEON "MADE INCISION OVER THUMB METACARPOPHALANGEAL JOINT. THE A1 PULLEY WAS LONGITUDINALLY INCISED AND THE FLEXOR TENDON WAS RETRACTED. THE VOLAR PLATE WAS RETRACTED ON THE PROXIMAL PHALANX. AN INCISION WAS MADE BETWEEN THE ACCESSORY RADIAL COLLATERAL LIGAMENT AND THE VOLAR PLATE. A FREER ELEVATOR WAS PLACED UNDERNEATH THE VOLAR PLATE AND IT WAS ADVANCED. THE THUMB WAS PLACED INTO A FLEXED POSITION AND THE VOLAR PLATE COULD BE ADVANCED TO THE LEVEL OF THE METACARPAL NECK. THUMB WAS HELD IN FLEXION AND A K-WIRE WAS DRILLED ACROSS THE MCP JOINT. THE VOLAR PLATE WAS SUTURED DOWN TO THE FIRST METACARPAL". ANY SUGGESTIONS???

26548 is the closest one I see.

Seama Posted 7 Year(s) ago

Patrick - that was the scheduling procedure but what I was concerned about is the fact that the description for 26548 states "interphalangeal" and the dictation states the incision was made in the MCP joint. Do you think I am forced to use "unlisted"??? Thanks, Seama

You are right. You have to use Unlisted code, but use 26548 as comparison code. I was thinking of comparison code and missed mentioning the details earlier.
