thoracoabdominal chondrosarcoma resection

Nicole Posted Thu 08th of September, 2016 11:30:19 AM
My provider is doing a radical en bloc resection of right thoracoabdominal chondrosarcoma with resection of right 9th and 10th ribs. He is also using sepramesh to reconstruct the abdominal wall. I was looking at 22905 but I am not sure if that captures the resection of the ribs as well. Then for the sepramesh I was going to use 15271/15272. Please advise if these codes are accurate. Thank You,

After discussing this scenario, we think that a detailed description is needed to find the appropriate code. Code 22905 is a code for resection of tumor of soft tissue. However in the information given by you, it is mentioned that the provider performs radical resection of chondrosarcoma with resection of right 9th and 10th ribs. Since chondrosarcoma is a tumor of the cartilage, code 22905 does not seem appropriate here. Please check code 21630, if it correlates with the details of this case. For further clarity, please share some more information. Thank you.
