Talonavicular Exostectomy

Kathy Posted Tue 15th of December, 2015 15:13:34 PM

We have a provider who performed this procedure, incising the dorsal medial foot, for access to the talonavicular joint. There was a shelf of spurring on both navicular & bossing of the talus area. This was brought down w/ use of osteotomes, rongeur & rasp.

None of the codes I'm finding, including, but not limited to 28100, 20120 & 27620, appear to fit the above parameters. Please assist in coding this & give your reasons for your selection. Thank you very much. kath

Thanks for the query,

CPT 27635 looks appropriate for this scenario.

[Look at the CPT section for leg and ankle joints.

Underneath 27640 and 27641, there's a highlighted note under each one of those codes that reads: "For exostosis excision, use 27635."]
