suburethral sling

Yolanda Posted Mon 30th of November, 2009 04:19:15 AM

Would like to put an end to this confusion my doctor documents procedure as "Monarch suburethral sling cystourethropexy" what code does cystourethropexy fall into? Second procedure is"cystoscopy" Diagnosis is"SUI" Should I use "57288" or "51992".
Weighted vaginal speculum was placed and a midline incision was made in in the mid-urethra to the anterior vaginal mucosa. Two small incisions were made in the right and left inguinal folds to the level of the clitoris. The Monarch needle system was used to manipulate around the inferior pubic ramus....inserted into the periurethral tunnel and guided out through vaginal incision.
Following placement of sling, bladder was inspected with cystoscope.

For "Monarch suburethral sling cystourethroscopy" procedure, the code 57288 can be used. Code 52000(cystourethroscopy, diagnostic) can never be used additionally due to CCI bundling issue (these two are bundled codes, therefore coding 57288 is enough, no need to code 52000).

For diagnosis SUI, we can code 625.6.
