Suboxone Clininc

Michael Posted Fri 28th of February, 2014 13:33:03 PM

We are running a Suboxone detox program and we have to do a urine drug screening (UDS)/ dipstick type testing for multiple drugs. What would be the correct CPT code for this?

The correct code for the test you describe depends on the payer.
• For Medicare, use G0434 — Drug screen, other than chromatographic; any number of drug classes, by CLIA waived test or moderate complexity test, per patient encounter.
• For non-Medicare use 80104 — Drug screen, qualitative; multiple drug classes other than chromatographic method, each procedure
You should not use the other two codes you suggested. Code80101 is for single drug class method, which is not a dipstick-type testing for multiple drugs. Code 80102 is for the confirmation test if the initial screening is positive for any substances.
