subchondral drilling

Angela Posted Tue 15th of March, 2011 19:34:59 PM

Does anyone know how to code Subchondral drilling of the RT 2nd metatarsal head with application of platelet rich plasma and demineralized bone matrix putty ??? I was going to use 28899 for unlisted procedure and send extensive notes and our op note. Any other suggesions and I can't seem to find anytime that resembles this in the CPT book.

Although there are many things common between this description and cpt 28289, but there are some differences also.

At the same time, there is no CPT code for subchondral drilling of the metatarsal-phalangeal joint (or any place else on the foot), so it is best way of coding the way you have coded and billed.
