Stool Collection

Janet Posted Wed 11th of June, 2014 13:25:03 PM

During a colonoscopy the dr found parasites in the cecum and took stool samples to identify the parasite. He also did a colon w/bx but can I bill for the stool collection or just the bx? If so what's the code?

No, you cannot bill colonoscopy for stool sample collection along with colonoscopy for biopsy. Stool sample collection will be considered inclusive of biopsy procedure. Hence, we recommend you to bill only biopsy code.

Thanks !!
