Stent deployed into saphenous vein graft

Candy Posted Thu 28th of February, 2013 15:26:37 PM

What is the correct code(s) for stent placement into saphenous vein graft when patient has an acute MI? 2 stents were placed and the patient had a LHC w/ Lt ventrigulogram. I'm leaning toward "92941-RC" and "93458" bu ti'm not sure if I'm capturing both stents.

From the information given, it sounds as if both stents were placed in the graft during AMI. In that case, one unit of 92941 would cover both stents in the single vessel. CPT guidelines state, “Target vessel PCI for acute myocardial infarction is inclusive of all balloon angioplasty, atherectomy, stenting, manual aspiration thrombectomy, distal protection, and intracoronary rheolytic agent administration performed.”
You may separately report 93458-26-59 for a truly diagnostic LHC.
