status post wound bleeding

Patient presents to ED with s/p 3 day paracentesis wound bleeding. At the time of arrival the bleeding had stopped. The physician finds no bleeding in examination. The physician documents wound check as dx. Should this be coded as wound check or postoperative dx and what code would be correct in this case?

You should code it as postop (routine) (following)examination V67.9 as bleeding did not find during the exam by the physician. If bleeding was in the exam, then it might have 998.11 (postoperative bleeding).
