spinal hardware removal

Susan Posted Thu 23rd of February, 2012 16:28:15 PM

The doctor removes an X-stop & replaces it with pedicle screws & rods on the same level(L5-S1). Is it appropriate to bill a 22849(reinsertion of spinal fixation device)?

Yes, CPT code 22849 is good to go.
