Small bowel resection with colectomy

E. maria Posted Tue 19th of May, 2015 15:05:35 PM

Pt underwent a subtotal colectomy (side-to-side anastomosis was created with the terminal ileum and distal colon) for obstructing colon tumor at the transverse colon and proximal left colon, and small bowel resection with primary side-to-side anastomosis due to the involvement of the tumor at the distal jejunum. How can I code this? Would it be appropriate 44160 and 44120?

I agree with your code selection. Use -59 modifier on CPT 44120.
