Is there a code to use when physician treats an umbilical stump with the silver nitrate?

Silver Nitrate is a drying agent that serves to stop the overgrowth of the umbilical stump. If perform cauterization of an umbilical granuloma, such as by applying silver nitrate to the stump, you should code 17250 (Chemical cauterization of granulation tissue (proud flesh, sinus or fistula).
Don’t forget to also report the E/M code if the pediatrician performs and documents a medically necessary separate E/M.
