Should audiologist be credentialed for all insurances?

Norelie Posted Wed 19th of November, 2014 11:12:06 AM

We currently bill audios and VNG's for Medicare. However, for other commercial insurances I was told to bill under the physician's NPI, this is not correct right?

Thanks for your question. Some commercial insurance companies will not credential all types of providers. If this is the case you would bill according to the policy of the insurance company. You should attempt to have your audiologist credentialed with all insurance companies that you submit claims to. You should also submit claims under the audiologist unless the insurance company has a policy that states otherwise.
