Indication: Persistant bleeding from scrotal abscess site in this 58 yr old male who underwent incision and drainage of left scrotal abscess 24 hours before.

Procedure: ...the patient's abscess site had become hmodynamically table since he was examined in the office. A pulse lavage was then directed using normal saline irrigation at the abscess site and the site was lavagaged with 500ml of sterile water. This restarted bleeding, which was coagulated with Bovie electrocoagulation. Once the site was stabilized, we then placed 2 damp 4x4 sponges over the site and 2 dry sponges on top and these were secured with pressure to the scrotum using 2-0 prolene suture in simple interrupted fashion. A dry Kerlix roll was applied on top of this and mesh panties were provided to keep these in position.

What do codes would you recommend for this? The physician has indicated an irrigation and debridement of left scrotal abscess site as his "procedures performed." Post op diagnosis is bleeding left scrotal abscess incision and drainage site.

I do not see any debridement going on here. I will go with 54700.For this procedure, the diagnoses may include 608.83 (Vascular disorders), which includes scrotum "hematoma, non-traumatic" or 922.4 (Contusion of trunk; genital organs), which indicates scrotum hematoma traumatic.
