same procedure in global period

The pt had a corneal transplant & 3 wks later got hit in that eye so the procedure has to be repeated ASAP. How do we code/use mod so we get paid. Everything will look exactly the same as 1st procedure!

If it is exactly same Px, then there is no option. If it is related and not same, then we have modifier -78, used for related Px after the primary Px during the post op global and requires the usage of OR. Modifier -58 is appropriate if it is planned or staged at the time of primary Px. Modifier -76 is valid for repeat Px by same physician, but it's only for the day of surgery (intraoperative).
