Rigth sided temporal craniotomy with intraoperative electrocorticography

Deborah h Posted Fri 16th of October, 2015 13:37:43 PM

How would you code a right sided temporal craniotomy with intraoperative electrocorticography for tumor resection and tailored cortical resection. Also, if another physician came in during the process of the surgery, and placed electrode strips on the temporal cortical surface inferiorly and superiorly as well as in the operative site, would this be considered part of the bigger surgery or/and what would you use to code this part of the procedure as well? Would the physician be considered a co-surgeon or an assist?

Thanks for your question.

There is no exact CPT code for this procedure in the CPT manual. We found something near to it, which is CPT 61500 with 95829 or you can use unlisted code for code this scenario.
