According to Supercoder this is how you use an unlisted code such as 53899:
When reporting a procedure with an unlisted code, submit a cover letter explaining the reason for choosing the unlisted code instead of a defined, active code. Include one or more similar codes, and compare your service to those codes to justify the claim amount you are billing. Also include the operative notes or other relevant documentation to strengthen the claim and to avoid a possible denial. Your payers will consider claims with unlisted procedure codes on a case by case basis, and they will determine payment based on the documentation you provide.
What similar code or codes should I use with 53899 for this surgery?

To help you with similar codes, I would like to know for what condition was operation performed followed by vesicourethral anastomosis. What was the original procedure that was performed.

Patient had a Laparoscopic robotic prostatectomy the day before. He then developed urinary leak from vesicourethral anastomosis.

Use CPT code 55866 with 78 modifier. 78 modifier has been added for unplanned return to the operating/procedure room by the same physician or other qualified health care professional following initial procedure for a related procedure during the postoperative period.
