Is there a cpt code for Laparoscopic repair of small bowel mesenteric defect? I found an open repair but have been unable to find the laparoscopic code. Per my surgeon's notes the jejunojejunostomy was found to be inverted on itself through the small mesenteric defect. There was essentially a 180 degree twist of the anastomosis thru the defect. This was untorsed and defect closed. This woman had a previous gastrectomy with Roux-en-y reconstruction.
thank you

Sorry for the delay.

There is no code for laparoscopic repair of small bowel mesenteric defect. You will have to use unlisted code 49329, small bowel mesenteric defect.

Thanks !!

Wouldn't 44238 be a better choice?

Code 49329 represents 'Unlisted laparoscopy procedure, abdomen, peritoneum and omentum'.

Mesentry is a part of peritoneum. Small bowel herniates through this defect and the provider primarily repairs the mesentry defect. Hence code 49329 would be more appropriate.

Thanks !!
