Removed EVD and removal of posterior fossa cyst drain

Deborah h Posted Thu 26th of March, 2015 13:29:42 PM

Are you able to charge for removal of EVD and posterior fossa cyst drain? If yes, what cpt codes would be used? If a VP shunt or posterior fossa cystoperitoneal shunt was inserted at the same time as the removal of the drains can you code for removal?

There is no code for removal of EVD. More ever, removal gets included in the insertion procedure of the VP shunt when performed in the same session. Bill CPT code 62223.
