Removal of thoracic paravertebral mass

Caralee Posted Wed 07th of March, 2012 14:58:16 PM

The subcutaneous tissue and the fascia were opened in the midline. Dissected the muscles from the spinous process of the T6 and T7 vertebrae and found adjacent to the muscle a lession which was elastic and encapsulated. The mass was removed w/o injury to the muscles. No laminectomy was performed. What CPT code would be used?

21556-21554 depending upon the size of the mass. No evidence of 63302 as per the documentation given.
