REMOVAL OF PULSE GENERATOR DUE TO CELLULITIS

K Posted Mon 09th of June, 2014 12:40:43 PM

HELLO, OUR PROVIDER REMOVED TWO LEADS AND THE PULSE GENERATOR DUE TO CELLULITIS OVER THE POCKET OF THE GENERATOR. HOW WOULD YOU CODE THE DEBRIDEMENT OF THE POCKET? THE CELLULITIC AREA WAS EXCISED / THE INTERNAL PULSE GENERATOR CAPSULE WAS EXCISED IN ITS ENTIRETY / CAPSULECTOMY OF THE PULSE GENERATOR POCKET?

Use 61888 for the above scenario.

It is not for a cranial neurostimulator, but a spinal neurostimulator. We would use 63688 for the removal of the implanted spinal neurostimulator, but I was wondering about the debridement of the pocket due to the cellulitis. Any code for that procedure?

No,this will be inclusive to the procedure. The final intention was to remove the spinal neurostimulator only.
