Registered Nurse

Luz Posted Thu 21st of June, 2012 19:49:25 PM

Is a register nurse allowed to render service to a patient for CPT's Electronic analysis for Neuro stimulator pulse- CPT-codes95970& 95978 or does it have to be done by the physician only? Physician sign the RN note and bill under his/her provider number. Your input and reference to material(Medicare guidelines) is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi Luz,

I am providing a link which will help you better understand the whole scenario.

http://www.aafp.org/fpm/1998/0500/p12.html

NPs are allowed either to bill Medicare directly under their own provider numbers or to reassign their billing rights to employers or other contracting entities. For your practice to receive payment for services provided by NPs whom you employ or contract with, the NPs must reassign their payment rights to the practice.

Thank You
